Six Sigma - Yellow Belt

Overview: Half module comprising; One-day contact (face to face), One-day tutor supported, private study, distance learning (reasonable email support for two weeks) - equivalent two-day. See 'The Six Sigma Package' 

This is a (half module) blended learning 2-day equivalent Yellow Belt programme.  It is the ideal training programme to ensure that students understand the fundamentals of Six Sigma.  Students as a consequence of this course would be able to actively contribute in a structured manner to their associated Green Belt projects.  Providing support and assistance to the teams in progressing the projects and problem solving. The training delivered via our blended learning approach is both practical and participative embracing exercises, simulations and distance learning to highlight the key tools and techniques.

Yellow Belt course content

One-day (Tutor supported) - Private Study:

An optional pre-course study programme prior to joining the course is provided consisting of a textbook and workbook See 'The Six Sigma Package'.  This optional pre-course programme includes simple guidance and exercises to check student's understanding and progress.  Supported by email tutor guidance.

One-day (Face to Face) course:
  • Overview of Six Sigma; History, goals & context of Six Sigma, The metrics of Six Sigma

  • Six Sigma Mobilisation; Six Sigma implementation, The key roles for Six Sigma success, Role and responsibilities including the Yellow Belt role

  • Six Sigma Process;

  • Overview of DMAIC,

    • Define; problem statements, voice of the customer (defining Critical To Quality), process mapping, cause & effect analysis

    • Measure; basic statistics, types of data, data collection, sampling, introduction to process capability and statistical process control

    • Analyse; graphical analysis techniques, basic statistical techniques, root cause analysis

    • Improve; process optimisation techniques, process improvement verification and business gains, planning for control

    • Control; error proofing, process monitoring, planning for control, repeating the benefits and learning the lessons
